A MESSAGE OF WELCOME
_______________________________
The promotion and elaboration of human rights is a most pressing need in Mexico, especially if we seek to create a just, humane, and caring society. By means of forums, workshops, meetings, and conferences, as well as the Don Sergio Méndez Arceo National Prize for Human Rights, the Fundación Don Sergio has helped strengthen these areas of expression, solidarity, and collective action, supporting diverse voices in civil society in the fight for justice and human rights in Mexico.
We hope that our website may be a space which is open to these human rights struggles. To honor the memory of Don Sergio, we seek to promote a solidarity which breaks down the borders and media-created fences which divide us and isolate our struggles. We want to make visible the causes of our people, including the marginalized poor.
With everyone’s help, we hope this space will be a place of discovery, conversation, and defense of human rights. Therefore, it is not a finished page, but one which is permanently being recreated and updated with details of the struggles, hopes, and proposals of these groups.
We invite you to delve into its contents and to use and enrich these materials so that the memory of Don Sergio might be today a seed for the liberation of our people.
